Fort Myers, FL –
The Coastal Zone Foundation (CZF) is pleased to announce that Kimberly Danesi has earned the designation of Certified Coastal Practitioner™ (CCP) professional credential.
Earning the CCP designation distinguishes Danesi as having a broad knowledge base and understanding of the interrelationships that exist among different coastal professions.
Danesi is the CEO of the Galveston (TX) Park Board, and has worked for the Park Board for more than seven years. She is a proud graduate of Texas A&M Galveston and has been an island resident for more than two decades.
Under her leadership, the Park Board is responsible for protecting, preserving and promoting over 32 miles of coastline on Galveston Island. In her role as CEO, she oversees the organization’s coastal operations, seven coastal recreational parks, Galveston Island beach patrol, Visit Galveston as well as accounting and administration.
“As the CEO of an organization tasked with cleaning, nourishing and protecting the beaches of a small barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico, this course provided invaluable knowledge on methods and best practices for coastal preservation,” Danesi said.
“I’m excited to be a graduate of this distinguished program and look forward to collaborating with other certified coastal practitioners on solutions to issues facing our coastal communities.”
To earn the CCP credential, candidates must complete a series of 10 courses offered by the Coastal Zone Foundation in cooperation with the American Shore & Beach Preservation Association (ASBPA). The CCP program provides participants with multidisciplinary instruction on comprehensive coastal management and defines the body of knowledge, which reflects best practices for coastal practitioners. To date, 32 professionals have earned this certification.
The Coastal Zone Foundation was formed in 1984 with the purpose of advancing scientific and related engineering and planning knowledge. Visit coastalzonefoundation.org to learn more about the certification.
